Traineeship at the EU Council
The General Secretariat of the Council offers two 5-month paid traineeship periods in Brussels. The first runs from 16 February to 15 July, and the second from 1 September to 31 January.
Eligibility
- Applicants must be citizens of a EU Member State or a candidate country.
- Proficiency in English or French (C1 level) and very good knowledge of two EU official languages is required.
- Completed first cycle of higher education is necessary.
- No previous training or employment for more than six weeks at an EU institution.
Benefits
- A monthly grant of €1,376.88 net.
- Two days of leave per month.
- €60 monthly allowance for use in Council’s restaurants.
- A travel allowance.

Positive Action Programme for Trainees with a Disability
Eligibility
- EU nationals with a recognised disability.
- They must have a university degree or be at least a third-year student of a university/college.

Traineeships for students of national administration schools
Eligibility
- Students of national administration schools from EU Member States or candidate countries.
- Applications must be sent to the Traineeships Office by the candidates’ national administration school.
