    Safer Internet Day Competition

The Online Achievements Competition aims at providing young people with the opportunity to share achievements that they have accomplished through using modern media and the internet; perhaps demonstrating their right to be active participants in the online world or their responsibility in influence change as the digital citizens of tomorrow.

This year’s Safer Internet Day competition calls for written entries. Applicants are asked ‘What kind of a story have you got to share?’ and ‘How has the internet helped you to achieve something extraordinary?’

Children and young people  from any country, are invited to write a short essay, blog roll or make a video blog (of max. 2 minutes), describing their achievements in the online world. Entries can be made in the English language only. Creativity and imagination are encouraged. This need not necessarily be something big or grand,  just something that has made a difference to their lives, or the lives of those around them. It could for example be mastering a new skill, taking a stand against bullying in a chatroom or social networking site,  or helping a grandparent to send their first email.

All entries must be made via the online submission form on the SID Competition page, along with a short summary of your entry, on the website.

All entrants will receive an electronic certificate as acknowledgment of their participation.
Specific technical requirements for video entries are detailed in the 2013 Competition Guidelines.

    Eligibility:
The competition is open to individuals or groups of children and young people from 5 to 19 years old from all over the world, divided in these three age categories:

    – over 15 years old.

For the competition, an adult should be the main point of contact for participants’ online submission.
