    Pilot projects for the development of "Sector Skills Alliances"

    In the framework of the Lifelong learning programme, the European Commission has launched a call for proposals with the aim to test a new type of transnational partnership proposed in Erasmus for All programme and draw lessons for future implementation of it.

    According the Europe 2020 Strategy, 75% employment rate should be achieved by 2020.
    To fight youth unemployment and to increase economic competitiveness is important having a up to date and constantly evolving vocational training.

     

     

    Objectives
    The Pilot Project « Sector Skills Alliances » (SSA) aims at gaining experience of transnational partnerships which address the challenges of skills mismatches and shortages. The lessons of the call will feed into European and national policy making as well as into the implementation of the future European programme in the field of education and training. The results will also boost VET policy and strategy in the economic sectors concerned.

    The « Sector Skills Alliances » (SSA) shall bring together bodies with sector-specific expertise coming from three complementary fields:
    – the world of education and training
    – the labour market
    – VET policy makers.

    The projects shall develop and deliver adapted, updated or new sector-specific curricula, VET programmes and possibly qualifications or innovative ways of delivering VET in response to evolving skills needs

     

     

    Eligibility criteria
    The proposed Alliance must include at least 7 partner organisations established in at least 5 Lifelong learning programme participating countries, including 4 Member States. They must include at least one partner from each of the following three categories:
    a) VET providers (Public or private VET providers, including higher education institutions, research centres or bodies in education and training)
    b) Sector Specific expertise ( European, national, local, economic and sector bodies)
    c) Bodies involved in education and training systems

     

     

     

     

    Who can participate
    Eligible organisations are higher education institutions, research institutes and training institutions; public and private large, medium or small companies, trade organisations, cultural and creative bodies established in the Member States of the European Union or other country participating in the Lifelong learning programme, active in sectors such as:
    – automotive industry
    – health and social work
    – tourism and catering
    – energy saving technologies, including sustainable construction
    – aeronautics industry

    Applications must be submitted by a legal person.

     

     

    Funding
    The maximum total budget earmarked for co-financing projects is 2 million Euros.
    The financial contribution from the Commission cannot exceed 75% of the total eligible costs.
    Grants are expected to be 400.000 Euros maximum.

    Activities must start between 1 January and 1 February 2013.
    The minimum duration of the projects is 12 months and the maximum is 24 months.
    No applications will be accepted for projects scheduled to run for a longer or a shorter period.
