    Peace and Sport Awards 2013

    The Peace and Sport Awards reward sport initiatives and individuals who contribute to peace and social stability in the world, in areas that have been made vulnerable due to poverty, the aftermath of conflict or lack of social cohesion.

    The winners have implemented projects that are symbolic of what sport can accomplish to create links between divided or opposed communities.They reward the expertise of many different kinds of actors for sustainable peace through sport.

    The Peace and Sport Awards Ceremony will take place on 7th November, during the Gala Dinner of the Peace and Sport International Forum 2013, in the presence of in the presence of H.S.H. Prince Albert II of Monaco and President and Founder of Peace and Sport, Mr. Joël Bouzou.

     Categories
    1) Sports Federation of the year
    -it recognizes excellence from an International or National Federation which has put its sport at the service of social action and peace, whilst also contributing to the national development of the sport.

    2) Sports Event of the Year
    it rewards an event demonstrating its ability to effectively promote a message of peace through sport, and works for the long term benefit of identified communities.

    3) Non-Governmental Organisation of the Year
    -it rewards an NGO which has demonstrated real expertise in using sport as a tool for peace education and to involve local actors.

    4) Corporate initiative of the Year
    -it rewards a corporation/business which has used its assets and experience to promote peace and social awareness by using sport as a tool.

    5) Image of the Year
    -it rewards a photograph that has succeeded in promoting sport diplomacy or peace through sport on the global agenda. This award is given in partership with Sportel Monaco.

    6) Special Jury Prize
    -it pays tribute to creative initiatives (such as films, books, exhibitions, art etc.) which have highlighted the positive role sport can play for sustainable peace.

    7) Champion of the Year
    – it rewards an international athlete who has made  sifgnificant contribution to promote and use sport for
    sustainable peace adn integration.

    8) Adapted Program of the Year
    – it rewards a project which have highlighted the positive role of sport as a tool for social inclusion, that hat fits to the environment it is implemented in and aims to help the communities to become self sufficient.

    Selection
    The Jury for the Peace and Sport Awards 2013 consists of eminent personalities invested at the highest level in activities to promote or to consolidate peace through sport. Although there is only one outright winner in each category, three nominee projects will be selected and presented to the Jury.

    The two remaining Peace and Sport Awards will have an alternative process of voting:

  • Image of the Year to be decided by the online public via the Peace and Sport website
  • Champion  of the Year to be selected by the members of the Peace and Sport Champions for Peace Club.
