    International Essay Contest

    The contest for young people launched by The Goi Peace Foundation and UNESCO aim at inspiring society to learn from young minds and consider how each person can make a difference in the world.

     

    Theme

    This year’s theme is « My experience of overcoming conflict ».

     

    Guidelines

    • Essays can be submitted by individuals up to 25 years old (as of 15 June 2024) in one of these age categories: Children (ages up to 14); Youth (ages 15 – 25) .
    • The word limit is 700 words for English or French, or 1600 characters for Japanese
    • Teachers and youth directors can submit a collection of essays from their group
    • Each essay must be original and unpublished, and only one entry per person is accepted.
    • Co-authored essays are not accepted, and the copyright will be assigned to the organiser.
    • Copyright of the essays entered will be assigned to the organiser.
    • Entries must be in MS Word (DOC/DOCX) or PDF format.

    Awards

    The awards for the Children’s and Youth categories are as follows:

    • 1st Prize: Certificate, 100,000 Yen (approx. US$ 660), and a gift (1 winner)
    • 2nd Prize: Certificate, 50,000 Yen (approx. US$ 330) (2 winners)
    • 3rd Prize: Certificate and a gift (5 winners)
    • Honorable Mention: Certificate and a gift (25 winners)

     

    1st to 3rd prize winners will be invited to the Winners Gathering to be held online.
