Young European Heritage Makers

Children and young people from across Europe are invited to explore, reflect on, and creatively express what heritage means to them by participating in the Young European Heritage Makers competition. This initiative is part of the European Heritage Days the largest cultural celebration, organised by the Council of Europe and the European Union.

 

Who can participate

Children (ages 6–11): Individual entries welcome.

Teenagers (ages 11–17): Can work in groups of 2–4 participants.

Participating Countries: Armenia, Finland, Flanders-Belgium, Italy, Latvia, Montenegro, Slovenia, Spain, Ukraine.

 

How to participate

Submit drawings, photos, or paintings written by the children themselves, either individually or as a group. Teenagers can also submit videos (up to 3 minutes). All entries must be accompanied by a text description (up to 800 words) written by young people.

 

Facilitators (teachers, youth leaders, heritage professionals, etc.) can help you to explore and

express your heritage freely and safely, without interference or influence.

 

Prizes 

Ages 6–11: European Heritage Days goodie bag and national celebration.

Ages 11–17: Trip to Strasbourg in May 2026 for the exhibition and visit!
