European Ombudsman Traineeships

Gain valuable experience in EU public administration with a paid traineeship at the European Ombudsman! Traineeships are offered in Brussels and Strasbourg, starting on 1st September.

Traineeships 2025 

The Ombudsman is offering traineeships in:

Eligible candidates

  • Be an EU Member State or accession/candidate country national.
  • Not have had a paid traineeship/work contract (over 8 consecutive weeks/2 months) in any European institution (including MEP offices).
  • Have thorough knowledge of one EU language, very good knowledge of another, and strong English skills.

Specific requirements

Case Handling: 3+ year degree/diploma in law, political science, European studies, or public administration.

Digital Communication: 3+ year degree/diploma in communication, journalism, or media design (online media/digital marketing focus).

Traineeships for Persons with Disabilities: University degree or 3rd-year student (or equivalent) in higher education. Disability documentation (in an EU language) is required (e.g., national/regional authority document, EU disability card, or recent medical certificate).

 

Monthly grant: trainees receive a monthly grant during the traineeship period.

 

Deadlines:

– 10 March 2025, 13:00 CET (for Case handling and Digital communication traineeships)

– 7 April 2025,13:00 CET (for traineeship for persons with disabilities).

IT TRAINEESHIP 2025 Java/Web developer trainee

 

Applicants must

  • Have a strong foundation in web development technologies, including Java, Angular, and HTML5/CSS3, with experience in related frameworks and databases (see full list for details).
  • Be a citizen of an EU Member State or candidate country.
  • Be a graduate or final-year student in a software development Master’s/Engineer program.
  • Not have prior paid experience (over 8 weeks/2 months) at a European institution.
  • Be fluent in one EU language and have very good knowledge of another.
  • Be proficient in English and/or French.

 

Monthly grant

Approximately €1850, plus a €40 supplement for internet access. Traineeships begin in February/March in Strasbourg, France.
