European Ombudsman Traineeships
Gain valuable experience in EU public administration with a paid traineeship at the European Ombudsman! Traineeships are offered in Brussels and Strasbourg, starting on 1st September.
Traineeships 2026
The Ombudsman is offering traineeships in:
Eligible candidates
- Be an EU Member State or accession/candidate country national.
- Not have had a paid traineeship/work contract (over 8 consecutive weeks/2 months) in any European institution (including MEP offices).
- Have thorough knowledge of one EU language, very good knowledge of another, and strong English skills.
Specific requirements
- Case Handling: 3+ year degree/diploma in law, political science, European studies, or public administration.
- Digital Communication: 3+ year degree/diploma in communication, journalism, or media design (online media/digital marketing focus).
- Traineeships for Persons with Disabilities: University degree or 3rd-year student (or equivalent) in higher education. Disability documentation (in an EU language) is required (e.g., national/regional authority document, EU disability card, or recent medical certificate).
Monthly grant: trainees receive a monthly grant during the traineeship period.
Deadlines:
– 13 March 2026, 13:00 CET (for Case handling and Digital communication traineeships)
– 31 March 2026, 13:00 CET (for traineeship for persons with disabilities).
