Work And Travel
What is the “Work and Travel” programme?
It is a programme that allows you to obtain a visa to live abroad for several months, with the possibility to work there.
The idea? You go to another country for up to 12 months. Once there, you are free to look for a job to finance your stay, while using your free time to travel, discover the culture and meet new people. Please note that some countries, such as Australia, allow you to extend your stay up to 2 or 3 years under certain work conditions in specific regions.
Important: the programme does not provide you with a job in advance. It is up to you to look for work once you arrive. The visa simply gives you the right to work in the country.
Who is it for?
It is for young people aged 18 to 30, with a Luxembourg passport, who want to live a unique experience abroad.
Where can I go?
Destinations include Australia, Canada, New Zealand, Japan, South Korea and Taiwan. These countries have signed agreements with Luxembourg so that young Luxembourgish people can benefit from this programme.
How does it work?
- You choose the country where you want to go.
- You apply for your special “Work and Travel” visa at the embassy or online.
- Once accepted, you prepare your trip and set off on this adventure!
You will not receive a grant or specific financial support, but you will be able to work locally to finance your stay.
