Youth Exchanges
What is a Youth Exchange?
Youth exchanges bring together groups of young people aged 13 to 30 from at least two different countries to meet, exchange ideas and learn outside the formal education system. These activities focus on a specific topic, such as the Youth Goals, and are based on non-formal learning methods, including workshops, exercises, debates, role plays, simulations and outdoor activities.
A youth exchange gives you the opportunity to discover how other young people live in Europe and beyond, and to discuss and take action on topics that matter to young people. The focus is on peer learning and on strengthening values such as solidarity, democracy and friendship.
The activities involve between 16 and 60 young people aged 13 to 30 who live in the countries of the participating organisations. Each national group must include at least four participants, not including group leaders. If minors take part in the project, they must be accompanied by a sufficient and reasonable number of adult supervisors. Group leaders must be at least 18 years old.
Youth exchanges involving only young people with fewer opportunities may include a minimum of 10 participants. The activity must take place in the country of one of the participating organisations, and a local group must be present throughout the entire duration of the activity.
A youth exchange can last between 5 and 21 days, excluding travel days.
Good news: travel, activity and living costs are covered!
It is a great opportunity to develop your skills, discover other cultures and learn together with other young people from across Europe.
