The Road Trip Project is an initiative of the EU’s Regional and Urban Policy department of the European Commission.
This summer will take place the second edition of the Project involving 2 teams of 4 young people on a 5-week journey between the 23rd of August and the 29th of September 2019. During the trip they will meet locals (notably people involved in EU-funded initiatives and influencers) and report their adventures on social media.
Where do we go?
The two teams will take have a specific route: the route A will be from Ireland to Cyprus and the route B will go from Finland to the Canary Islands.
What are the conditions to apply?
The application is open to citizens or legal residents of the Member States of the European Union who are between the age of 18 and 30. Applicants must have an EU Passport (or a certificate of residence allowing to travel in the EU) that is valid until at least January 2020 and have good command in English.
Having a driving license valid until at least January 2020 would be a plus for the selection.
Obviously, the applicants must be free to travel during the last weekend of July 2019 in Brussels, between the 23rd and the 29th of August 2019 and from the 29th of August until the 29th of September. Please note that the exact dates are to be confirmed.
How to apply?
Applicants must create a Road Trip Project Account and share their personnal information by filling in this form. The application involves creating and sharing a presentation video, writing an introduction text of themselves as well as sharing a quote. They will also have to choose their preferred traveller profile (copywriter, video maker, presenter, photographer) and indicate the languages that they speak, other than English and share their social media links to give the jury an idea of their activities. Note that application video, picture, nationality, self-introduction and preferred quote will be displayed later in the public voting stage in case applications are considered valid by the moderation team.
The applications are open until the 24th of July 2019.
Selection steps :
-Public vote : validated applications will be published on the Road Trip Project’s website in the public voting page from the 1st to the 28th of July 2019 to pre-select 20 profiles to be submitted to the final jury.
– Pre-selection : 40 further candidares will be selected for the final jury.
-Final jury: communication professionals of the organising consortium and of DG REGIO, will select the 16 finalists out of the 60 pre-selected candidates between the 29th of July and the 2nd of August 2019.
-Invitation to the Brussels final selection weekend: the 16 finalists will undergo various activities to allow for a final assessment, and for the best match between the travellers.(10th-11th of August 2019).
All travel costs will be covered. Arrival, stay and departure will be handled by the organiser. The exact daily allowances will be disclosed upon travellers’ selection.
